J Salez

Juan Ricardo Chávez, known as J Salez, is a Mexican-American artist who burst onto the bachata scene with an identity all his own. Born in Corona, California and based in Los Angeles, he blends his Chicano heritage with a Dominican genre, and that mix is what makes his sound stand out.

His connection to bachata started at 20, when dancing became a passion that led him to teach and perform at events across the country and abroad. Inspired by his family's music — his parents sang professional mariachi — he chose a career in music and made bachata the way he tells his stories.

Since 2022, J Salez has worked with EQS Música on production, promotion and artist management. Under EQS he has released more than 20 bachata singles, passed 15 million streams, released his debut album California Love produced by DerekVinci, and taken his music to stages in the United States, Canada, Italy and beyond.
